The chosen candidate will work independently and in teams to develop and maintain structural mechanics software in FORTRAN, C and C++. In depth understanding of structural mechanics and numerical methods is required. WAI’s emphasis is on solving real problems in a production environment, while simultaneously honing computational tools. Relevant experience is a plus, but the ability, background and commitment to become an expert in structural dynamics for blast and shock applications are most important.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Maintain and improve existing structural dynamics software
Perform Finite Element analysis of structures subjected to blast and impact

REQUIREMENTS
ESSENTIAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
MS or PhD in a relevant engineering or scientific discipline (Civil Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, etc.)
Understanding of Structural Mechanics

Perform structural calculations for the design and analysis of building structures and facades subject to dynamic blast loadings. Work should be in conformance with applicable building codes such as IBC, ACI, AISC as well as applicable blast design standards. Perform single degree of freedom, multiple degree of freedom and finite element analyses of structural and façade systems and conduct computational modeling of potential structural design schemes using SAP 2000 nonlinear, ETABS and RAM.
