Secure 5-story office building, 1-story annex building, parking structure, visitors center, and vehicle-control buildings. LEED Gold. 210,000 sf.
Weidlinger Associates provided structural consulting services for a 5-story, 210,000-square-foot secure office building with expansion potential; a 1-story, 15,000-square-foot secure annex building; a secure parking structure; a visitors center; and associated vehicle-control buildings on an existing landscaped site. The project earned LEED Gold and also met ISC Security Criteria, including provisions for progressive collapse mitigation.
The office building is framed in structural steel with composite floor and roof slabs. The annex structure is a framed, post-tensioned, cast-in-place slab, and the parking structure is a two-way, cast-in-place slab. The foundation systems consist of drilled shafts for the office building, and individual spread footings for the annex and parking structures. The site is protected with an anti-ram, anti-climb barrier, and the occupied facilities, including proposed expansions, provided GSA minimum standoff distances.
