Calculation of response of weak aboveground structures and above- and belowground hardened facilities, blast doors, and internal equipment to conventional weapons effects.
Weidlinger Associates tested the response of various materials to conventional weapons effects. The materials investigated included reinforced-concrete, masonry, steel, and composites. The results of these studies, performed with simplified software tools, were incorporated into the DTFA Munitions Effectiveness Assessment Tool. Pre-test predictions and post-test correlations were used to validate the computational tool. The project demonstrated that the tool could be used to analyze and verify designs of shelters and storage facilities subjected to accidental internal detonations and other abnormal mechanical environments.
